#974 - Bastille Day Celebration

Bastille Day celebrations make New Yorkers shout Vive La France, from the top of their lungs!

When our 4th of July holiday comes to an end, the American hot dogs, burgers and potato salad dishes get swaped for les crêpes, la baguette, la fromage et les vins français... briefly, of course.

The national celebration belongs to France, but New Yorkers won't pass up an opportunity to commemorate the occasion with their own parties.  Can you say joie de vivre?

#975 - Times Square's Characters

Times Square's infectious energy, evolving landscape and bright lights have always appealed to the fun loving and curious masses.  But, the cast of costumed characters who pop up, throughout the intersection, are adding a new dimension to the Times Square facade.

How often do you get to see a couple of super heroes
convening with Elmo, Minnie Mouse and Hello Kitty?

Times Square has something for everyone...

  A caped crusader

Sponge Bob

Dora

#976 - Manhattanhenge

Manhattanhenge is the "can't miss" summer solstice trend that sends crowds running into the streets of New York, twice a year.  Our version of Stonehenge appeals to the urban "sun worshipers", who risk life and limb by dodging traffic and jockeying for a coveted spot to get the best shot of an evenly centered sun setting between Manhattan's  east - west street grids. Manhattanhenge might be viewed as  a growing trend, but it's still NYC's greatest natural phenomenon.

BTW...special thanks to the super cool tourists and fellow New Yorkers who
graciously offered to let me stand in their spot, to capture this image.
